Dr. M A Awab Sarwar is a renowned psychiatrist and Addiction specialist currently based in Lahore. He has over 13 years of experience in his field. His qualifications include MBBS (Pakistan), FCPS Psychiatry (College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan), MRCPsych (Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, United Kingdom). He has had diverse training and experience working in Pakistan, Ireland and England. Upon completion of his 4 year residency training in Pakistan, he was the only psychiatry doctor offered the HSE-CPSP Scholarship from Pakistan in 2016. He completed advanced training in psychiatric subspecialties in Ireland, including emergency liaison psychiatry, home care and community psychiatry, old age psychiatry and especially, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He then qualified for higher specialty training in the United Kingdom, and later pursued Addiction Psychiatry along with General Adult Psychiatry at Merseycare NHS Trust. There, he additionally acted as the Mental Health Act Approvals Lead, GP Trainees' Lead Tutor, and an examiner for University of Liverpool School of Medicine. Landing back in Pakistan in 2022, he established a Mental Health Clinic, the first of its kind, in Gulberg Lahore, with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, psychiatrists, psychotherapists and behaviour therapists. Additionally, he has been working as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at one of the largest hospitals in Lahore, and is appointed the lead focal person for Addiction Services. His vision is to develop integrated care via collaboration with relevant health professionals, to promote Mental, Behavioural and Physical Health under one roof.
